Geneva Fungi Fest

The project

Four days dedicated to fungi.

Geneva Fungi Fest is a public festival project carried by the Société ethnomycologique de Genève. It brings together cinema, conferences, photography, cuisine, encounters and a mycological parade around the fungal world.

The festival aims to create an accessible, lively and demanding space, capable of bringing science, cultures, arts, popular knowledge, culinary practices and contemporary issues related to fungi into dialogue.

Programme

The main axes of the festival.

Fungi cinema

A film programme of short and feature-length works, documentaries, fiction and hybrid forms dedicated to fungi, their environments and the imaginaries they inspire.

Conferences

Encounters with researchers, authors, practitioners and specialists to explore fungi in their scientific, cultural, historical, culinary and social dimensions.

Photography exhibition

An exhibition dedicated to fungal forms, textures, environments and presences, conceived as an invitation to look differently at what often develops beyond the visible field.

Mycological parade

A public, costumed and festive moment in the city, with music, a parade, a prize for the best fungal costume and a collective celebration of the imagination of fungi.

Cuisine & restaurants

Culinary proposals, stands, collaborations and dishes around fungi, in order to connect the festival with tables, flavours and the restaurant professions.

Workshops & young audiences

Discovery activities, workshops and mediation formats allowing children, families and curious visitors to approach fungi through observation, gesture and imagination.

Volunteers

Preparing the first edition.

The first edition of Geneva Fungi Fest is planned for 2028. Until then, the SEMG wishes to bring together motivated people to imagine, prepare and grow this project with energy, seriousness and good humour.

The festival will need volunteers for welcoming the public, the parade, screenings, conferences, workshops, logistics, cuisine, communication, photography, video and all the small invisible tasks that make an event come alive.

You do not need to be a mycologist to take part. It is enough to enjoy slightly unusual projects, fungi, culture, encounters, costumes, ideas that grow out of the ground and well-organized collective adventures.

Partnerships

Help Geneva Fungi Fest grow.

Geneva Fungi Fest is built with cultural, scientific, artistic, institutional and culinary partners. The SEMG wishes to develop strong collaborations with venues, organizations and people who want to contribute to this first edition.

Financial support will play an essential role in making the festival possible: film programming, screening rights, conferences, exhibition, communication, coordination, logistics, equipment, remuneration of contributors and hosting of invited artists.
